The floor tilts, the room spins, and suddenly even walking to the kitchen feels like crossing a tightrope. Vertigo can rattle your confidence and hijack your day, but it doesn’t have to rule your life. We dive into what vertigo really is—far beyond “just dizziness”—and map the patterns that reveal causes and solutions, from inner ear crystal shifts to stress, sinus congestion, neck tension, and hormonal changes.

We break down BPPV in plain language and explain why rolling over in bed or looking up can launch a spin. You’ll learn when the Epley maneuver helps and how to do it safely. Then we guide you through a clear, practical homeopathic roadmap: Cocculus for motion-plus-nausea, Gelsemium for heavy, droopy weakness, Bryonia when movement aggravates, Belladonna for sudden explosive episodes, Phosphorus for sensitive systems, Conium for positional spins, Nux vomica for stress and digestive triggers, and Kali bich for sinus-linked dizziness. Our goal is simple: help you quickly match your experience to the right support so you regain steadiness and confidence.

We also share immediate strategies that calm your vestibular and nervous systems: smart hydration with electrolytes, screen limits to reduce motion sensitivity, ginger for nausea, gentle neck work for cervical contributors, and breathing techniques that quiet anxiety. If vertigo keeps returning or feels murky, we talk about when personalized care can change the trajectory, tailoring remedies and routines to your patterns. Save this episode as a reference, share it with someone who needs answers, and take the first step back toward stable ground. Defining Vertigo Clearly

SPEAKER_01

Welcome back to Homeopathy at home with Melissa. Hey Melissa.

SPEAKER_00

Hey Brie. Today we're talking about something that feels scary, unpredictable, and sometimes downright disabling. And that's vertigo. So if you've ever had that spinning feeling or the room tilted when you stood up or felt woozy, floating, or off balance, you know how terrifying vertigo can be. And people often think vertigo is just dizziness, but it's not. It affects your vision, your balance, your confidence, and sometimes even your ability to walk safely. The good news is that homeopathy has some of the most effective remedies for vertigo from sudden episodes to chronic balance issues. And I am speaking from personal experience. I had um about a vertigo about three years for the first time ever, and it was very scary because I didn't know you have to hold on because you can't, yeah, you can't walk safely. Um, and I used homeopathic remedies, and that was it. So pretty amazing stuff. So today we're covering what vertigo really is, the difference between spinning versus lightheadedness, what triggers vertigo, the top homeopathic remedies, a simple matching guide, lifestyle supports that help immediately and when you might need more care. So let's get started. And Bree, I'd love for you to tell us what vertigo actually is.

Symptoms, Triggers, And Daily Impact

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I am really glad we're talking about this because this is pretty prevalent. Um, vertigo is the false perception of movement, which makes you feel like you're spinning, or maybe the room feels like it's spinning, which can include that tilting or swinging sensation. And you might feel that way even if you're not doing it, but it also might cause you to do that, which then walking becomes unsafe. Um, lightheadedness, some unsteadiness because of those things. Nausea and vomiting can be very common for obvious reasons. Um, ringing in the ears. So I do we see a lot of tinnitus. If that's true, tinnitus, maybe not, but that term used often in tandem with vertigo. Blurred vision, um, maybe it can make you sweaty or anxious because I mean, obviously, you just feel like you're out of control. And you also, if you don't know what's causing it, can cause a lot of anxiety. So, vertigo, it can be brief just for a few seconds, or there are cases where it can last hours at a time or days, or there are people who suffer from this daily for years. Um, obviously, it makes it everyday life things difficult, like driving, walking, going up and down stairs, even um reading or showering where you have to like use your hands, but stay steady. So everything becomes harder. A lot of different things can cause vertigo. Um, several possibilities are inner ear dysfunction. This could be the crystals in the ear, which the what do you call anagram, maybe B P P V. B, P V. Yeah. Yeah. What do you call that? What is it when the letters mean something? Um I can't think of that word. Anagram. It's not antonym. Antonym. Analogy. No, not antonym. Acronym, acronym. Acronym, that's what it is. Acronym. Okay. Now that we did all the other A words, it's not acronym B P.

Causes From Inner Ear To Hormones

SPEAKER_00

Okay, but let me let me tell you what, because I have it right here in my notes. What it stands for. I mean, probably everybody knows and they're like screaming it at us. Um my gosh. Okay, keep going and I'll look it up.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so crystals in the ear is what it means. And then inflammation and infection in the inner ear. That is that can be very common. Neck tension, believe it or not, in your cervical spine, that it can create cervical vertigo. Um, migraines can create vestibular vestibular migraines can also bring vertigo, blood pressure fluctuations that'd probably be a shorter term, like one of those short-lived vertigo anxiety, so hyperventilating, panic attacks, but just anxiety in general can create that symptom, viral illness like cold sinus infections, respiratory viruses, hormonal shifts. We see a lot of this. I think perimenopause and menopause in middle-aged women, medications, side effects can also, I mean, they can cause a lot of things, but one of them being vertigo. And homeopathy works wonderfully because it can match the specific way you're experiencing it, not just the diagnosis of vertigo. So, did you find our acronym?

SPEAKER_00

So, my weird thing is being really weird, and it's just like loading. So, maybe you can find it while I read um the hot top hemopathic remedies. I can I found it. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

It is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. I would have to but it's caused by the little calcium crystals in your ear, or if they get dislodged in your ear canals, it's confusing for your balance in motion.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So you can do the epline maneuver. Um, you can look up the epline maneuver on YouTube if you if that's the the thing, if it's the crystals in your ear. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So what remedies you got for us?

Matching Guide For Fast Selection

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, let's look, let's talk about the most important remedies. Number one is coculus indicus, and that is the motion vertigo. This is the number one remedy for dizziness that worsens with movement. So this is great for vertigo that's made worse by riding in a car, nausea and dizziness, sensitivity to motion, feelings of spacey or floating, worse from lack of sleep, great for caregivers running on empty. And if the motion or exhaustion brings on dizziness, coculus is your remedy. Gelsimium is the weak and heavy vertigo. So this is the vertigo of weakness. It's great for heaviness of the eyelids, droopy, tired feelings, shaky, weak muscles, slow to respond, vertigo before big events or anxiety, blurry vision. If the person looks like they could fall asleep mid-sentence, think of gelsimium. Bryonia alba is the better still worse motion vertigo. So when any movement makes it worse, you'll think of bryonia. This remedy is great for the person who must be still, vertigo worse, turning the head, headache with dizziness, dryness, irritable, better for pressure. Bryonia is the don't move me vertigo. Number four is belladonna for the sudden intense vertigo. This is the explosive acute vertigo. And so it's great for the sudden onset, the room spinning, red face, dilated pupils, throbbing headache, heat or fever, sensitivity to light. Belladonna is powerful for vertigo during an illness. And then phosphorus is the light and sound sensitivity vertigo. This is great for highly sensitive individuals and for the vertigo that's from standing up quickly, worse in the dark, better with cold drinks, anxiety, sensitive nervous systems. This fits the empathetic, easily startled person. And then CONIA MAC is the BPPV remedy. So this is the key remedy for dizziness from turning the head. So think vertigo when rolling over in bed, vertigo when turning the head or looking up, worse from lying down, worse from closing the eyes, neck stiffness. If your world spins when you roll over at night, Conium MAC is almost always a match. And that's actually what happened to me. It was when I turned over to get out of the bed that day and have my first bout of vertigo. And I took Conium MAC 6C and Arnica 3C. I believe that's a Banergy protocol. And that's what I grabbed, and that has been amazing. I think I ended up having Vertigo um one or two more times after that, and um, and haven't had it in a in a long time. So um that was a really great one for me. Number seven is Nox Vomica. This is the vertigo from stress or digestive issues. So um think of Nux Vomica when the person is overworked, irritable, dizzy after overeating, dizzy with nausea, worse after alcohol or rich foods. Um number eight, Cali Bick is the sinus-related vertigo. So this is perfect for the vertico, vertigo linked to congestion. I had this once um in my um mid early to mid-20s when I had a really bad sinus infection. I got dizzy with it, and but this was before homeopathy, so but I would have taken Cali Bick back then if I knew homeopathy then. So this is perfect for the vertigo, like I already said, this link to congestion. So think sinus pressure, thick stringy mucus, dizziness from blocked ears, worse in the morning. Remember to pause the podcast and um write down these keynotes, get them in your notes so that you can access them quickly, and also write down this cheat sheet. I'll give you this quick matching guide. Motion plus nausea equals coculus, weak heavy droopy equals chill simum, worse with any movement equals bryonia, sudden and intense equals belladonna, worse for turning the head in bed equals conium mac. Sinus related equals Cali Bick, stress digestive equals Nux Vomica, sensitive personality equals phosphorus. So Brie, why don't you give our listeners some supportive strategies for immediate relief?

Immediate Supportive Strategies

SPEAKER_01

Okay, and I want to say take immediate with a grain of salt, because that's if the issue is not maybe something deeper, right? Like if you have an ear thing going on, hydration might not take it away, but it can definitely help help it settle a little bit. Um, so hydration, dehydration can mimic vertigo. So make sure you're staying hydrated with good quality water, electrolytes, maybe um adding those in there with the magnesium and potassium can calm the vestibular system. There are vestibular maneuvers like what Melissa mentioned, the Eply maneuver, especially that is for BPPV, the crystal moving around in there. Um, you can Google that. And actually, I you can see like a literal cheat sheet, like a pictures of what to do. Um, limit screens, those definitely worsen motion sensitivity and can worsen, worsen nausea. Um, ginger helps nausea and dizziness. Actually, that can be very effective. Um, fresh ginger or ginger chews or lozenges, gentle neck stretching if that stiffness is contributing to that, but that can also just help calm. I mean, you're gonna probably get tense if you have vertigo. So try to settle some of your body and your muscles. And remember, for the anxious feelings you may have to calm your vagus nerve, do some deep breathing. There are some really good actual deep breathing techniques you can even just Google. It's not hard to find them that can help calm your system. And those things do have a big impact on things like vertigo.

When To Seek Personalized Care

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, thank you for that. So, vertigo can feel frightening. I know um, because I've experienced it, it was frightening, but you're not powerless. And homeopathy, nervous system support, hydration, and just a little knowledge can bring relief that feels miraculous. So if vertigo keeps returning, that's when personalized homeopathy care makes all the difference. And so we would love to support you either inside the inner healing circle. You can find that, and just you can just take a look at it, what it looks like at join.melissacrenshell.com, or you can get one-on-one consultation at melissacrinshell.com, click the schedule my call button, and we can help you. Your balance can return, and you're not alone in this. I have helped a lot of people with vertigo. In fact, right now I'm helping a lady, like you said, Bree, that has been dealing with vertigo for 34 years, almost constant. Can you imagine living like that? No, that's so sad. Very, very sad, terrible thing. I mean, I just had it, you know, like three times, and I'm um no, I'm not I'm thinking.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like three experiences with I mean, I've had less than that. Maybe. And I mean, I'm talking there was a reason. I stood up really fast and felt that way or something, and for that second, it's really jarring. Yeah, I actually can't how do you even know how people live a life like that?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I don't know how you live.

Hope, Outcomes, And Closing

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I couldn't even function, and then they will say it like, no, I have had that for 30 years, and I'm like, what? How are you a normal person?

SPEAKER_00

And they're totally normal. Oh, yeah. We adapt, we learn how to live with the things we have. So um, you know, when I that first time I had vertigo, it I took the remedy and I waited a few hours and I and I think I took it again. Uh before I took it the second time, I was getting better. And then after the second dose, I was all better. And so it was um it was a rough day that day, but it was, but thankfully, then the next time I got a ver a vertigo, it was I took one dose and it was done, right? So every time we use homeopathy, we almost we remind our bodies what to do. So thanks for listening. We will see you next time. Have a great night.
