Sleepless nights don’t need to end in groggy mornings or a growing pile of quick fixes. We look at why sleep breaks in specific ways—racing thoughts, grief that tightens the throat, tired-but-wired burnout, 3 a.m. wakeups after overwork, and fussy teething meltdowns—and match those patterns to gentle homeopathic remedies that support deep, restorative rest. No sedation, no override—just targeted support that helps your body remember how to sleep.

We start with a candid listener question on why a child may not respond to remedies, exploring dosing, potency, storage, and environmental blockers like strong mints or topical melaleuca. From there, we lay out a clear approach to homeopathy for sleep and share real case studies: Coffea Cruda for the mind that won’t shut off; Ignatia for grief-driven insomnia; Kali Phos for frayed nerves and shallow sleep; Nux Vomica for 3 a.m. wakefulness tied to stimulants and heavy dinners; and Chamomilla for kids who are inconsolable, angry-crying, or teething. Each story shows how a well-matched remedy, plus simple habits like dim lights and no late screens, can shift sleep within days.

Along the way, we talk practical sleep hygiene, the role of the vagus nerve, and how small choices—magnesium baths, quiet reading, steadier meal timing—signal safety to your nervous system. For those who find nighttime spiritually charged, we offer perspective and a blessing that reframes the bedroom as a sanctuary of peace. If you want structured guidance, our Rest Renewed course inside the membership goes deeper with over 20 remedies, dosing plans, children’s protocols, and faith-centered tools that help you build rhythms you can sustain.

If this conversation gave you hope, share it with a friend who’s struggling, hit follow, and leave a quick review so more people can find it. Ready to take the next step? Join the membership to access Rest Renewed and start reclaiming your nights today.

Fan Mail: When Remedies Don’t Work

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to Homeopathy at Home with Melissa. Hey Melissa.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, Brie. Super excited to talk about something near and dear to the heart tonight.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I know, right? We get a lot of questions about this one. Um, but before we get into the episode, we want to do some fan mail. So Melissa has up if you're on YouTube, you can see from Burbank, California. This is what it looks like when you submit fan mail. This is what we get to see. Um, from Burbank, California, the question is could you talk about children with chronic issues who do not respond to homeopathy?

SPEAKER_01

So um I think there's I think we would need more information, right? So what you know, did does the child need a different potency? Is it was it the right remedy? Was it is it the right frequency of dosing? So sometimes people come to us and say, they tried this remedy. And they so let's just say I I know right off the bat they probably need acinite, and then they say, Oh, yeah, we tried acinite. I always will ask, well, wait a minute, I want to hear, I want to know about that. What potency, how often and how long did you give it? So sometimes people just didn't use, maybe they used one or two doses and they were expecting a response. Um, assuming that you really did give it the right enough time and it was the right remedy and the right potency, then what else could happen, Brie, that could hinder the action of homeopathy?

SPEAKER_00

So I would be asking about number one, like, are other people in your family responding well to these remedies and that child isn't? And then where are you storing them? How are you using them? What are some environmental factors that maybe are hindering the action of those remedies? Maybe they're using like peppermint toothpaste, and that person is really sensitive. Um, so if you take children out of it, children or adults, I feel like I've seen more often that adults can be maybe slower to see a response or need different potency. The potency can matter a lot. With kids, I don't see that as much personally. So if all the things were going, they did everything right and still no action, I would ask some of that stuff. The environmental factors, um, possibly medications they're taking, sometimes even topical products. Um, melaleuca is in so much stuff these

Framing The Sleep Problem

SPEAKER_00

days that if if you're using melaleuca topically, let's say, or I don't know, there's a lot of things that can be in the environment hindering that. So those are things I think I would want to know first.

SPEAKER_01

Um such a deep thing to learn and you to learn how to use, not that it's impossible and never ever want to make it sound impossible, but there's a learning process to it. And so I think there are some things that could hinder its action, but it also could just be it needs to be used differently.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And I, you know, I think sometimes after you've maybe worked with a homeopath for a while and done some chronic work, that they do respond better and more quickly to acute remedies. Or even if I've had um clients like eczema clients, where if it they tried a remedy and it truly didn't move the needle much at all, or if at all, we do a couple different things, maybe deeper, we get a bigger picture, and sometimes go back to the same remedies they've already, you know, tried before, and we'll see a better response, just their their bodies at a different place. So maybe something to consider too. It just depends on what you're trying, how you're using it. A lot of factors.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So thanks for submitting that question. And if you want to, if you want, if you want your question to be featured on our next podcast or a future podcast, just submit fan mail through the uh link under this episode. There's a description and then there's a link you can click. And it looks like you're gonna text me directly, but it really goes to the website, but that there's that's where I see it. So thanks so much for asking good questions. So let's get started.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so today we are talking about sleep. The I think this is one of the biggest, most common things that we are asked about. Um, and honestly, it's such a huge issue. So something close to the heart. And today we're gonna talk about how homeopathy can help reclaim good sleep. And we know homeopathy is gentle, very powerful, can be extremely affordable. Um, truly, I think, the most economical form of natural medicine under the natural umbrella that you could get. So if you are in this place, you've tried melatonin, the essential oils, all the supplements,

What Homeopathy Is And Isn’t

SPEAKER_00

you still can't fall asleep or stay asleep. You are not alone. I think if you talked to anyone in your life, you would really quickly realize you're not alone. But in case you don't have anybody else in your life, you have a whole wide variety of people listening with you who also struggle with sleep and you are not broken. Let's talk about how homeopathy can offer a different path and bring healing and truly bring you some hope because y'all know a sleepless person, a sleepless life can be so miserable. So miserable. Now we're really we're not really talking about like mama with a baby sleep. You're just not gonna get probably a lot. We can't help but be more restorative, though, the sleep you do get. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

So um here's the problem with quick fix sleep solutions, like some of the ones that you just maybe mentioned, or medications. We're surrounded by sleep aids that promise fast results, but many of them come with side effects, foggy mornings, or even dependency. Homeopathy doesn't work that way. It doesn't sedate, it doesn't override your body, it reminds your body how to rest, and that's the most beautiful thing about it. Homeopathy honors your design, and God created your body with rhythms. Your circadian rhythm is important, so this is about helping restore those rhythms from the inside out. So just in case you're new to homeopathy, I want to just very quickly do a short little maybe elevator speech about what homeopathy is.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I was gonna say.

SPEAKER_01

Your elevator speech. Yeah, it's a it's a uh a 200 plus year old natural medicine system based on the idea that light cures like it uses highly diluted substances to trigger the body's own healing response. So instead of suppressing symptoms, we match your exact experience emotionally, physically, and mentally to a remedy that reflects that state. And then when it comes to sleep, oh my goodness, there's so many remedies that can help. There's a laundry list of remedies that can help sleep. So I want to share just a few of those with you today. And I know I'm gonna talk about this, you know, at the end, but I want to share a few remedies with you today to try and see if you can get some help. These are the most common remedies. If you need more help or you want to go deeper, I have a whole sleep course, comprehensive full sleep

Coffea Cruda For Racing Thoughts

SPEAKER_01

course in my membership program. So there's just a I'm just gonna share with you a few of the remedies that we'll explore in that course. And I know not everyone can join, you know, the the membership right now, so but everyone deserves rest. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So number one is cafea cruda. This one is the too much on my mind remedy. So if your mind is racing at night, you can't shut off the mental noise after a busy day, or maybe just an exciting day, like you're kind of worked up. Kofea may be a good option for you. It's really great for those who say, I'm not even anxious. I just can't turn my brain off. And that could totally be true. So we do have case studies, which I love that you put some of these in here. So Melissa's gonna give us a case study for each remedy that we talk about. So you can see um what that might look like. I just want to side note here and say my own experience. This is something, this presentation, the way that you present these case studies, have been the most helpful in my own learning. So if you're trying to learn how to like take a case, work through questions to ask in your mind, this is this is money right here. This is good. Um, very, very helpful for a brain that works like mine. I learned a lot. So give us a study on cafea.

SPEAKER_01

Love it. Thank you for sharing that. That's encouraging. So, Cafea Cruda for the racing mind insomnia. So the client is Julia. She's 38 years old. Her occupation is a high school teacher, and her main complaint is trouble falling asleep due to overthinking. The background on her is um she's a busy mom of two who describes herself as mentally wired all day and even worse at night. Although physically tired by bedtime, she lies awake for two to three hours most nights. She reports that her brain is on fire, replaying conversations, planning lessons, remembering forgotten to-dos, or just thinking about everything all at once. She's tried herbal teas, melatonin, and screen limits. These help a little bit, but nothing stops the spinning thoughts. She said to me, I feel tired all day, but the moment I hit the pillow, it's like someone turned on all the lights in my brain and I just can't shut it off. She also notices she's more sensitive to noise at night, waking at the sound of her husband rolling over or a creaky floorboard. She is not anxious or fearful, just overstimulated. So Julia's case points strongly to Koffea Cruda, which is well known for erasing thoughts, overexcitement or mental overstimulation, difficulty falling asleep despite exhaustion, hypersensitivity to sound, restlessness after joyful or stimulating experiences. And the keynote of Cauffaya is a mind that won't stop spinning, like the effect of too much caffeine. So I decided to give her Coffea Cruda 30C once for 30 to 60 minutes before bed for two weeks and sleep hygiene support. So no screens after 8:30, dim the lights, take a magnesium bath. Sleep hygiene is important. We cannot expect homeopathic remedies to come rescue you if you're going, going, going, going, all the lights are on, you're watching TV, you're on your phone, and you're doing all these things, and then expect to take a remedy and you fall asleep. Yeah. So the outcome was by the second night, Julia reported falling asleep within 30 to 40 minutes instead of her usual two hours. By the fourth night, she was sleeping through the night five out of seven nights per week. After two weeks, she noticed this is what she told me. My mind still spins sometimes, but now it feels like I can let go of it. It doesn't drag me into the chaos. I'm finally sleeping. At her follow-up, she continues to use coffee accruta as needed when symptoms reappear. So, like after an exciting day or a stressful event. Um, she had no side effects or aggravations on this remedy at 30 C. I do recommend starting at 30 C because 200C, I've seen a lot of aggravations on. And um she added scripture meditation at night as part of her wind-down routine. So that was a beautiful remedy for her.

SPEAKER_00

So in the outcome, when it said by the second night, in the fourth night, she was sleeping five out of seven nights. Did that mean second week and fourth week? Does she maybe need it longer than two weeks? I think initially it started at two weeks, but sometimes people do need that for longer than two weeks. Um and I would that make sense to me by the fourth week, she was sleeping five out of seven nights fully through. That feels like a normal progression of sleep, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, so it wasn't no. So it really is by the second night, she was falling asleep fast. By the fourth night, she was sleeping through the night. And I experienced that myself on Kaufaya. It was like I knew really fast. In fact, it was my first night. The first night I took Kaffea out. Now you know I'm not hypersensitive,

Ignatia For Grief And Tension

SPEAKER_01

but I'm more sensitive than some. So Julia is also somewhat sensitive, and um, and so then after two weeks, she was like, Okay, I'm doing better. I can, you know, I still have the racing mind, but I can let go of it. And um, but that didn't, but she wasn't finished with it at two weeks, so she continued it for eight weeks, and then she um after the eight weeks, so it follow-up was eight weeks after we started, but she was very much better within two weeks.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that's pretty great. All right, um, okay, and I also want to tell you guys I have had several friends go from taking Benadryl, melatonin every night for years, like 10 to 15 years. Move to a well-fitting remedy, cold turkey. Like cold turkey, the other things, and can start the remedy and sleep well. That may not happen for everyone, but that's how well it can work. Okay, so second in line is Ignacia. Ignatia is particularly helpful for grief, heartbreak, or emotional tension. So if you've experienced loss, disappointment, big life transitions, um, high stress in your life, Ignacia can be incredibly helpful. You might find yourself sighing a lot or crying unexpectedly, like that's out of character, maybe for you. Um, it is one of the most used remedies for women going through emotional overwhelm that shows up at bedtime. And I really think in our American culture, this is probably the most common picture that I see. We've just, whether it's self-induced or not, I do think we pack our days, we pack our lives, we do, do, do, and compete, you know, in each other and compare. That leads to some of this. Some of it might not be self-induced, though. You have life circumstances that happen, like we kind of talked about big emotional stressors. But this one's also so good. So give us your case study for Ignition.

SPEAKER_01

So Maria is 45 years old. Um, she recently experienced the loss of her father, and she's having trouble falling asleep and waking with sudden tears. Oh, she shared that ever since her father passed, she can't relax at night. She lies in bed with a lump in her throat, sighing often, and sometimes wakes up with a jolt, already crying. She says her emotions are unpredictable and her grief feels tight and stuck. She said to me, Some nights I don't even feel sad, but when I start crying as soon, but then I start crying as soon as the lights go off. So I chose Ignatia 200C. I really love Ignatia 200. You can use 30 if you want to. Um, once before bed for four weeks. I wanted to see how she was doing in four weeks. And the outcome was within three days, Maria was sleeping through the night again. She still experienced grief during the day, but it felt more fluid and less suffocating. She said to me it didn't make the sadness go away, but it let me rest and that helped everything.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's really sweet. It helps me rest, and that helps everything. Truly, when you can rest well. Oh my goodness, I could be like a superhero. Um, okay. We're ready for the next one. We have number three is Cali Foss. Specifically, 6X is what you like for sleep, right? Sometimes 6C.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I I really do prefer 6C. And so my note here should should should say 6C. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I have heard

Kali Phos For Burnout

SPEAKER_00

of people using a 6X effectively. I also like 6C. This is a great nerve tonic, a great nerve calmer for burnout. It's great for kids, great for adults. This might be a good option if there's not a clear reason for your sleeplessness, but maybe you feel tired but wired is a good phrase we hear a lot. Um, fried, overstimulated. This could be a kid too. So they may not use those terms, but you know, when they're just really overstimulated and can't settle, Cali Foss gently soothes the nervous system. Such a good remedy.

SPEAKER_01

I love it so much. Um, that's another one that when I used it, I had a media, you know, that night, the first night I used it, um, I was out. It was good.

SPEAKER_00

So would you say also, I'm sorry to interrupt you first. Would you say for um emotional, no, I'm sorry, and mental mental overwork. Like if you had a long day working as Callie Foss fit that picture too.

SPEAKER_01

It sure does, yeah. Okay. So it's the, you know. It's the the nervous system tonic is the support, yeah, for the nervous system. So our my case um study is for burnout and restless sleep. So Josh was 30 years old. He was a new dad and working two jobs. His main complaint is he wakes exhausted after restless, shallow sleep. He presented with a constant state of mental fatigue and overwhelm. Even when he gets seven hours of sleep, he wakes up feeling like he never slept. His dreams are fragmented and he feels emotionally fragile. He's not anxious, just drained. He said to me, I don't feel stressed, I feel spent. My brain won't stop flickering. Interesting. So I used um I gave him Caliph 6C twice per day morning and night for two to three weeks. Um, really, I wanted to, I just wanted an email check-in in two to three weeks. I would have him use it for eight weeks before deciding because this is a chronic thing. The outcome was after 10 days, Josh reported deeper sleep and a noticeable shift in mood. He said he could finally reboot during sleep and handle daily stress more easily. He said to me, It's like my system is catching up on all the rest I've missed. He was so happy.

SPEAKER_00

I can imagine, I think of so many people who could probably benefit from that. The next remedy is actually a good fit for probably a better fit for kind of what I mentioned before: the lifestyle-induced insomnia, which you might have been thinking she actually means nux bamica instead of ignatia. Um, I was specifically thinking overwhelm for the ignatia, that that really overwhelming feeling. But the fourth remedy is nux bamaka. And if you've learned homeopathy for any period of time, I think nux bombica is one of the most versatile remedies known to homeopathy. You can use it for so many. Things including sleep. It's great for overstimulated, overworked, overtired, maybe or overindulgence. So maybe you've had caffeine too late, you've eaten really rich food. You might just be overwhelmed and irritable. Maybe you're falling asleep early, but waking at 3 a.m. or the middle of the night. Nox phamica is worth looking into and considering.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So Erica is

Nux Vomica For 3 A.M. Wakeups

SPEAKER_01

41 years old. She's an entrepreneur with late night work habits and heavy evening meals. She wakes at 3 a.m. wired and can't fall back asleep. She presented with um falling asleep quickly most nights, but consistently waking between 3 and 4 a.m. with a buzzed feeling. She's sensitive to noise, irritable, and mentally overstimulated. She drinks coffee late, eats big dinners, and often pushes through fatigue to keep working. She said to me, I feel like my brain wakes up at 3 a.m. ready to work just when I desperately need sleep. So I gave her Nux Fomica 200C before bed as needed, which at first was every night. Erica reported fewer wake-ups and better quality sleep. She was also more mindful of reducing caffeine and winding down earlier. So again, sleep hygiene.

SPEAKER_00

Your body to be able to like rest.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So you have to make some lifestyle changes as well. And she said that Nox Famica gave her body the signal to let go. She said, I didn't realize how much tension I was holding.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. That's good. I love hearing what people say, their responses to their healing. Um, next remedy we have is chamomila, especially for kids when children are fussy, inconsolable, um, or teething is a big one. They want one thing, throw it away, can't make them happy. They're crying, they fight bedtime, they can't settle down. This one is one of your favorites, Melissa. I know, and we've used it a ton for our kids. Um, there are a lot more that are covered, like Melissa mentioned in the rest, the restful sleep, whatever it's called, I can't remember. The sleep course, remedies for stuff like nightmares, hormonal shifts, night terrors, insomnia with menopause, night sweats, a lot more maybe that you could get into. So if you really want to do that or need more than the remedies we talked about today, um, definitely look into that, the membership where you have access to those. But even if these few that you have can make a big difference when they're matched well with the case. So chamomila, give us your chamomila case study.

SPEAKER_01

So Liam was three years old, and his parents said that he was inconsolable and restless at night, especially during teething. His mother described him as a sweet and playful child during the day, but at night, especially when teething, he became a different child. He would cry loudly, demand one thing, then throw it away. Nothing seemed to comfort him. Not being held, not being left alone, not rocking, nursing, or singing. She said to me, He acts like he's in pain, but it's more than that. He's angry. It's like he's mad that nothing is helping him feel better. So Liam would kick off his blanket, toss and turn, and wake every 30 to 60 minutes during the night. His cheeks were flushed and he was often drooling with

Chamomilla For Fussy Kids

SPEAKER_01

red swollen gums. So in my assessment, um, I noticed, and the mom and the parents told me that he was highly irritable, demanding and impossible to console. Um, he was the the classic asking for something, then refusing it behaviors, chamomila. The aggravation during teething, the restless, broken sleep, and physical discomfort with the pain and inflammation are all hallmark signs pointing to chamomella, especially in children. So I chose 200C, one dose at bedtime, and another in the night if symptoms return. Liam's mother reported a dramatic shift within the first few nights. He calmed down within 30 minutes of the remedy, settled into a deeper sleep, and only woke once during the night, which was easily soothed. By after after about a week or so, seven to ten days, he was falling asleep peacefully and sleeping nearly six hours uninterrupted for the first time in weeks. She said to me, It was like a switch flipped. He was he still had teething symptoms, but his whole attitude changed. He stopped fighting sleep. So at the follow-up, um, I instructed her to continue chamomila um as needed during those intense teething episodes or meltdowns related to overtiredness. And his parents were grateful to have a safe, gentle option that worked quickly and without sedation. So I really love Camomilla 200.

SPEAKER_00

Same. It was such a game changer for my babies. I want to give a little side nugget that is not about sleep, but it present it like happens during sleep hours with my kids when chamomila they got older, so I know they're not teething, and they'll come in bed and whine, and they're half asleep and they're not happy. They're having growing pains. It took me so long to like get them to like what is going on with you because they're tired. They're like loopy. And I've started keeping Calc Foss on my nightstand, and Calc Foss works great for growing pains. That's not a sleep remedy. I mean, maybe it's in there somewhere.

SPEAKER_01

Well, if they can't sleep because of growing pains, then yeah, it is amazing.

SPEAKER_00

That was one of the things that I wish, you know, I wish I knew chamomila with my first as a baby. I wish I had Calc Foss on hand because it took me a little bit. And I have three boys, they grow in like four inches a month. So so that's a side note. If they're waking up, kind of it was kind of a chamomila, it felt chamomila-ish, but that wasn't helping. Huh. Interesting. And it was their pain, their legs were so achy. Um, so there you go. Maybe try that if you have older kids who are mad when they wake up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So, you know, sleep is so important. We need it to feel good, to function. Um, and we were made to rest. We we were. So you know, not because we've earned rest, not because everything on our to-do list is finished, but because we are uh daughters of the king. You are you who are listening to this are children of the king, and your body is designed to heal and rest. So Matthew 11 28 says, Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. If your sleep struggles have made you feel weak, broken, or ashamed, I want to remind you that God's mercy is new every morning. He invites you to trust him with your

Beyond Remedies: Faith And Sleep

SPEAKER_01

nights too. So if you want to go deeper, um, my course called Rest Renewed, I take you step by step through a complete sleep healing framework. We I'll talk about sleep hygiene and how your environment might be overstimulating you. I'll teach you about what foods support or sabotage your rest, how to activate your vagus nerve, which is your body's calm switch. I mean, I'm going to walk you through exercises for your vagus nerve. Um, I'm going to provide you with spiritual tools to speak peace over your sleep. I'll give you a full breakdown of over 20 homeopathic remedies, including when and how often to use them. Plus, sleep help for children, caregivers, and hormonally sensitive women. So this rest renewed course is practical and it's full of grace, full of information, full of love, full of Bible verses, biblical meanings. And if you're thinking this sounds exactly like what you need, then you can grab a spot in the membership to access this course. But even if you're not ready to enroll in the course in the in the membership, just take what you've learned today and try one remedy. Also speak one truth over yourself, over your body, your mind, your sleep. Start dimming the lights at 8:30. One small act of rest is still an act of faith. So we're gonna pray. Uh go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I love that what's coming because I almost I have a little book with a blessing similar. But I do want to add, because if you've listened, you know that we love Jesus. And there is a, I mean, in my own life, um, there was a lot some spiritual work, some deliverance that needed to be done in my life for the things that were affecting my sleep. And so I just don't want you to discount that. Christian or not, the spiritual realm is very real. And it's not a coincidence that when you are trying to rest, that the enemy uses that time even to attack. So maybe pray over that even as you're looking through remedies. Maybe there's just some spiritual deliverance that needs to happen.

SPEAKER_01

So thank you for that, Bree. That's so good and so true. I love it. I want to pray this um blessing over you. So just if you want right where you are, if you can, if you're not driving, right? If you can close your eyes, if you want to hold out your hands like you're receiving something, and you can receive this blessing. So I bless your sleep, I bless your nervous system to unwind, I bless your mind to release the lies it's believed about your rest. May your bedroom become a sanctuary of peace, and may you hear God's whisper in the night you are held, you are safe.
